Deep tissue and Remedial Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Deep tissue is much more than just a ‘hard massage’, in contrast to just relaxing muscles, the specific
lengthening of fascia and muscles and tendons offers many benefits.
Deep Tissue Massage helps to remedy tension and posture and ease muscular aches and pain.
The overall aim of deep tissue massage is to reduce pain and increase range of motion/movement.
Thus, the goals of deep tissue massage therapy are to -
• Reduce swelling and decrease pain
•Promote healing
•Maintain fitness and strength
•Restore muscle balance through a range of motion and strength
•Relaxation
•Prevent re-injury: minimise further injury
Deep Tissue Massage works intensively with a range of techniques to include gentle massage, myofascial release, stretching, soft tissue strategies, transverse frictions, neuro-muscular techniques,
trigger point therapy, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and mobilisation techniques on localised areas of the body. Treatment techniques may involve the use of heat, cold, stretching and
exercises to restore mobility, flexibility and strength.
What are the benefits of deep tissue massage?

Treatment Sessions
Depending on your reasons for coming for Deep Tissue Massage, the minimum number of recommended treatments is between 3 to 5, usually at weekly intervals, in order to allow the treatment to take
effect, and for the true benefit to be seen. A Treatment plan is always discussed with you and put into place to determine your proposed treatment following the initial consultation and
treatment.
Often a postural assessment will be completed, and regularly reviewed, and where appropriate, suggestions will be made and exercises offered to improve any specific problems and maintain the
condition of the muscles in between treatments.
