My Baby Massage Instruction Sessions are, first and foremost, run by the babies. I like to focus on cueing into the babies' individual needs and developmental levels. Sessions are spontaneous and unpredictable at times, but always fun and supportive.

Baby massage sessions are open to all, parents/carers and their babies and other family members and friends who may be involved in caring for your baby.

Baby Massage can aid their healthy development, so healthy, or colicky, your baby will still benefit from the massage.

The Baby Massage Instruction Session will teach parents/carers the techniques for giving babies a full-body massage. This is a life long skill that is taught and you can keep and do with your baby with the aid of instructional written and verbal material that is provided from the session.

Many cultures have used Baby Massage as part of baby care for hundreds of years, and research shows it can have many benefits. Baby Massage enables you to learn about and respond to your baby's body language. It is also a wonderful way to make your baby feel safe and secure.

There is no set way to massage your baby - provided you know how to do it safely, you and your baby will discover what's best for you both. It is important to remember, however, that massage is something you do with, rather than to your baby.

Some parents/carers worry that they will not have enough time to massage their baby, however, a five-minute massage, two or three times a week can enhance the parent/carer-infant relationship, babies love it and it can help alleviate baby ailments too such as colic and wind, constipation, poor sleep, teething pains, colds and congestion.

What Does Baby Massage Instruction Involve?

As a qualified baby massage instructor, I will complete a consultation with you to ensure that the massage would be suitable for your baby.

This Consultation is carried out on your first visit as every parent and baby has different needs and requirements.

The session will then teach you the parent(s) / carer(s) / relation, the techniques for giving your baby a full body massage.

A series of movements will then be demonstrated to you, and I will help you to practice these on your baby, in order that you can carry out the massage at home.

The Baby Massage Instruction Session can take place in your home, at my treatment room, or a location where you feel comfortable. The instruction session can either be carried out on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.

After the initial session, I will arrange to meet with you and your baby again to review your progress and to discuss any further questions you may have. Further sessions can be offered which involve a variety of other movements for you to practise on your baby.

Classes can be arranged if you know other parents/carers who would be interested in massaging their babies, and it is a great way to socialise with other parents!

Do I need any special equipment or materials to carry out Baby Massage at home?

No special equipment is required, just oils or lotion and will therefore not involve you in a lot of extra expense. Baby massage can be carried out on the floor, bed or your lap dependant on the comfort of you and your baby.

How long does a baby massage instruction session take?

The initial Baby Massage Instruction session will normally take approximately 1 hour, in order to allow for the consultation, questions, demonstration and practice.

Subsequent sessions will take approximately 30 - 45 minutes, depending on the needs of you and your baby. Please note that all massage times are flexible. The massage duration is completely controlled by the baby.

All of my Baby Massage groups have a maximum of 6 babies per session, allowing the instructor more time for you and your baby.
Home visits may incur an additional travelling charge.
