Covid-19 Managing the risk
PP Massage's priority is to keep all clients attending as safe as possible. I have completed an in-depth course to prepare for a return to work in a COVID-19 world, and followed instruction and advice provided from my professional body and the Government.
There will be some changes in the process both before and during each session, to help ensure both yours and my safety.
I have completed a thorough COVID-19 Risk assessment (available at your request and displayed in the treatment room) and will continue to review this and my practises regularly.
If you, or any of the people you live with feel ill or display any symptoms of COVID-19 please advise me as soon as possible and DO NOT attend for an appointment.
Before you leave your home, please check your temperature, and consider if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms. Guidance can be found at www.gov.uk/coronavirus If yes to any of those questions, please postpone or cancel your appointment. There will be no cancellation fees.
Upon arrival all clients will have their temperature taken and recorded via the use of a non-contact digital thermometer.
If you are an existing client there will be a short update consultation and a Covid-19 declaration form sent prior to your appointment which will need to be completed and sent back before your appointment.
If you are a first-time client, a consultation form and Covid-19 declaration form will be emailed for completion prior to your visit, along with a telephone call.
If you are shielding it may not be possible to massage you at this time (please refer to NHS guidelines of you are unsure if you fit into this category, or speak with me further).
Visiting the Treatment room.
Our treatment room has been refurbished and deep cleaned prior to reopening.
To maintain these standards and our cleaning and sanitising regime, all non essential items from the treatment room have been removed.
Please attend your appointment on your own arriving at your designated appointment time. Please do not arrive early. This is so I can have the appropriate amount of time to sanitise, clean and ventilate the treatment room between client appointments. I am leaving at least 30 minutes in between appointments to ensure the facilitation of these measures.
If it is bad weather, then please wait under the porch and ring the doorbell when it is time for your appointment. Please take time to read the poster on the gate as a reminder of changes in place.
When I answer the gate you will be asked to walk straight though without touching anything. I will take your temperature at the door and you will be asked to sanitise your hands with hospital grade sanitiser and put on a mask
(if not already wearing), before going through to the treatment room and sitting down. All doors will be opened and closed for you.
A checklist will be displayed in the treatment room stating all areas cleaned and sanitised. This will be at the start of every day, after every client and at the end of every day. Along with the treatment room, this also includes the gate, door bell and all door handles.
No water will be offered following your appointment, please bring a bottle of water with you. Water will only be offered in an emergency.
You will be given a sanitised container in which to place your clothes when you undress.
I will no longer being using any microwavable heat packs during treatment. Where possible, please use some heat prioir to your appointment.
Windows will be open, to ventilate the treatment room during your treatment.
Face masks. All clients will need to wear a mask. I do have disposable face masks available at a small cost (50p). Face masks will need to be worn at all times, and put on before entry. Treatments can be adapted for certain health conditions or if you feel restricted with breathing with a face mask on whilst laying on your front. Please do speak to me further if you have any concerns about laying with a face mask on and how your treatment can be adapted.
Please be advised during your appointment, I will be wearing a face visor, face mask, apron and gloves (it is not uncommon for massage to go ahead with gloves on. Massage therapists are used to massaging in gloves if they have a cut on their skin or a skin condition. It will not feel any different). I will also be changing my uniform after each client.
At the present time, there will be no masage to the face.
I have purchased new couch covers, which will be changed after each client.
I can confirm that the laundering of couch covers, towels and uniform is a priority and can assure you that all laundry is washed at a minimum of 60 degrees c.
For the time being I will NOT be offering any home visits or office masages, as I cannot control the environment. Please contact me if you have a request for home vist or office massage as I will regularly be reviewing both Government and my professional bodies changes and recommendations, alongiside my risk assessment.
